THE STORY BEHIND THE LABEL – Video Challenge 2025
Our hugely popular film competition is back! The category is sponsored by The Buyer and we are accepting video submissions from any producer which enters wine for the People’s Choice Wine Awards. If you are a supplier, submitting wines on behalf of a producer, please do encourage them to send one in. Please note films are shortlisted, with a maximum of 4 (across wines and spirits) screened at the ceremony.
This category is FREE to enter and videos must be sent to us by 31st December 2024.Please send to janet@peopleschoicewineawards.com
AIM:
We showcase and celebrate hard working and passionate producers from around the world and help provide some insight into ‘the story behind the label’. We’d like to share your stories and would love to hear from you.
HOW IT WORKS:
Video links and files will be assessed by a specialist panel of our judges. They will produce a shortlist of 4 videos (across wine and spirits producers), which will subsequently be screened live as part of the PCDA ceremony. You will be notified if your video has made the shortlist, no later than 31st January 2025.
This competition is exclusive to PCDA, therefore, we require that you do not publicly share the shortlisted video until after the ceremony on 10th March 2025.
Everyone in attendance at the ceremony will have the chance to vote for their favourite film, according to the criteria of the category.
Richard Siddle, editor of The Buyer, will present the award, to the winner, or representative thereof, on the night.
After the ceremony, all shortlisted videos will be uploaded to the People’s Choice Drinks Awards YouTube Channel with special reference to the winner. This will also be shared on The Buyer’s YouTube channel too.
The winner will be profiled by The Buyer, once the full list of winners is released on 11th March 2025.
CONTENT:
This doesn’t need to be a highly polished production. We do not need producers to go to huge expense in producing video content. This is your chance to be producer/director and maybe the lead actor too!
The story could include:
- Where and how you make wine
- How you came to be a winemaker – your journey
- What sacrifices you and your family have made in the process
- What you love about making wine
Sales or marketing videos are unlikely to make the shortlist.
The video can be sent in any digital format (not DVD or on a hard drive) or be on an existing YouTube/Vimeo link. And must be strictly no more than 2mins in length.
If you have any questions about the category, content or need further guidance, please contact janet@peopleschoicewineawards.com
Good luck!
